Some of the best parties in St.Ives were given by Denys Val Baker, a prolific writer and his wife Jess, a prolific potter in their crowded family house directly overlooking Porthmeor Beach. There was a lively pub and party scene that I was happy to go along with. I had started painting again for the first time since finishing at art schoo and felt I was getting somewhere, at least I was enjoying what I was doing.
It was a dazzling setting for Patrick’s vibrant new paintings, large abstract canvases partly inspired by the dazzling colour of the garden, as well as his enthusiasm for the work of Matisse, Bonnard and Braque, who were favourite painters of mine as well. All the walls were painted matt brilliant white, unusual at the time and something I had never seen before in a private home. My rent was thirty shillings a week, which I could reduce by doing some dishwashing and hoovering in the light spacious rooms. The large early 20th century house was surrounded by a high walled, exotic garden of unique flowering shrubs and verdant vegetable plots, originally developed by the war historian, Mark Arnold-Forster, then lovingly maintained and enhanced by Delia and her able gardener, Mr.Dick. I had found an excellent place to live in the Coach House Studio at Eagles Nest, Patrick and Delia Heron’s spectacular isolated property on the winding coast road to Zennor.
It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know so many witty talented people who seemed to enjoy socialising, as much as making art …perhaps I had arrived in the right place at the right time? Since the end of World War II this remote, traditional fishing port had become recognised internationally as a community of creative modern artists. I boarded a British Rail train in Bristol and headed south west to St.Ives, near Land’s End in Cornwall where my friends were working at the renown Leach Pottery. Also, there was also a cutscene in Mario Sunshine Repainted where a paper piece with an arrow and the word "fag" is pointed at a dog with a Mario hat and mustache, it replaces the cutscene where FLUDD gets stolen from Mario by Shadow Mario. As a wide-eyed art school graduate on a substantial travel scholarship I wanted to search for – the far away places with strange sounding names, the places that had fascinated me since childhood. They also tend to insult anime in their repaints. In Super Mario Sunshine Repainted, after defeating Mecha Bowser, someone pretending to be the president of the USA spoils the twist of the game, he even swore in the footage saying, "these in its are fucking awful Angelo". In the repaint it is known as "Game Boy Wh**e", and the file select in Luigi's Mansion "File 1, File 2, and File 3" are replaced with "F*ck 1, F*ck 2 and F*ck 2". In Luigi's Mansion, the small device Luigi holds is known as the "Game Boy Horror". They cater to adults and mature audiences, they tend to swear a lot as a joke, their repaints also contain swear words and slurs, for example. They also repainted Luigi's Mansion, the first repaint of the game is bizarre, and the second is just awful. Sometimes they litter games with swear words, they also edited Super Mario Sunshine's cutscenes with memes and other media. These edits can range from dead or forgotten memes to their artwork to make retro games look like trainwrecks. They dump the game's textures using the Gamecube emulator "Dolphin emulator". In their repaints, they tend to put filthy memes in the games they repaint. The cast contains Angelo and a couple of others.
Their content is meant for adults and mature audiences. Luigi's Mansion Repainted Highlights Games Repainted is a group of people on a YouTube channel who do highlights of video games they repaint.
